Microsoft has announced the end of support for .NET 8 and .NET 9 as of November 10, 2026. Developers are recommended to upgrade to .NET 10 to continue receiving security updates and bug fixes.
Editorial Comment
Two versions at once — that's not support, that's an execution. The folks at Microsoft clearly decided that developers had gotten too comfortable. "You've just gotten used to .NET 9, and we're already killing it." Anyone who doesn't upgrade to .NET 10 is their own enemy. Or they have a legacy project that nobody wants to touch. Either way — get ready for sleepless nights and migrations. And remember: .NET 11 is already on the way. The editorial opinion may not coincide with the position of the authors and other experts.
