The "Luch" satellite with an experimental laser communication system has been launched from the Vostochny Cosmodrome. The device provides data transmission at speeds of up to 10 Gbit/s between satellites and ground stations. Tests will continue until the end of the year.

Editorial comment: Laser communication — sounds like something from a sci-fi action movie. 10 Gbit/s — faster than most providers on Earth. The "Luch" satellite hits the mark. Although, as usual, the question remains: when will this reach ordinary users? But we won't rush — we'll give them time to test, and then we'll wait until we have laser internet too. The editorial opinion may not coincide with the position of the authors and other experts.
